Hawler (pronounced How-lair), Kurdish for Erbil, Arbil, Arbela, and the list is endless. Anyway, this my base for the observations in this journal; Hawler, Iraqi Kurdistan
Not one, but two turkeys, Zanmei?! Can I come for Christmas?? Hope you and yours have a lovely holiday season. Looking forward to more Kurdistan musings in 2010!
A friend in Taiwan characterized me as someone seeking stability in risky environments. If she knew I had relocated to Northern Iraq, she would probably feel she had been proven right... But the truth is, life is quiet here.
Yep. Kurdistan looks quite stable these days. In your place I would try Afghanistan, even Obama is moving his troops their way. Just follow the US forces and you will never get it wrong with risky environments.

But the truth is, life is quiet here... so far. But it's true that I love the challenge of figuring out yet another new place. I wonder if my curiosity will ever be completely satisfied. Charlie Chan said, "Curiosity responsible for cat needing nine lives." I only have one, so I better satisfy as much as possible before it runs out... or hope that I come back as a cat.
