another borrowed photoOK, so I am not sure what to write here... what I am not going to write is an essay on Kurdish nationalism. Instead, to all those living in Kurdistan and members of the diaspora, I say (in addition to 'Happy Newroz'), 'Harbizhi Kurdistan'. This year, like last year, I rode to the first Newroz picnic of the year in a car decorated with two Kurdish flags... and unlike the pinickers' flags from last year... and unlike the Iraqi flags near Erbil airport, there were no gold fringes. Please note, that with the exception of Newroz, I have never ever been in a car decorated with the flag of any nation including my own.
